Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Carl Nassib announced on Monday that he's gay, setting him up to become the first openly gay player to compete in a regular season game. Nassib took to Instagram to make his announcement:
In addition to his announcement, Nassib says that he's making a donation of $100,000 to The Trevor Project, which aims to prevent suicides among LGBTQ youth.
Nassib was a third round pick by the Cleveland Browns out of Penn State in the 2016 NFL Draft. Now 28, Nassib is entering his second season with the Raiders and has 20.5 career sacks.
