PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Clemente Museum in Lawrenceville is opening is holding an open house to help the victims of the recent earthquakes in Roberto Clemente’s home country Puerto Rico.
The museum that features countless photos and a bunch of memorabilia that goes through the life and career of The Great One is usually only open by appointment.
From 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday you can visit the museum for a discounted price.
Adult tickets are $10 (normally $21) and kids can get in for $5 (normally $10). Those with a military ID can get in for $5 (normally 10).
Maya Henry, Director of The Clemente Museum tells 93.7 The Fan, “100% of the ticket sales both online and at the door as well as any donations we receive will go directly to earthquake relief for the poodle of Puerto Rico through the #yonomequito Puerto Rico Earthquake Relief Fund. We worked with Luis Clemente, through The Clemente Foundation to designate this charity.”
Hall of Fame baseball player and humanitarian, Clemente died on New Year’s Eve 1972 in a plane crash while delivering earthquake relief aid to victims in Nicaragua.
He was 38.
