According to multiple reports, Fenway Sports Group is close to an agreement to purchase a controlling stake in the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Sportico has the Penguins valued at $845 million, which is 15th in the NHL. They are currently owned by Mario Lemieux’s Lemieux Group LP.

Fenway Sports Group owns the Red Sox, as well as Liverpool FC. FSG investors include LeBron James and record executive, Jimmy Iovine.

It seems clear the Fenway Sports Group would like to have its hand in all the major sports.
