WGR 550, Buffalo, NY - Despite being on the ice for just two goals against in 38 games this season, Zach Metsa on Thursday was sent back down to the Rochester Americans. The last time the 27-year-old rookie was on the ice for a goal against the calendar read October.
Metsa had played five good games with newly acquired Logan Stanley, but gave way to Conor Timmins who I thought played his best game a a Sabres on Wednesday against the Boston Bruins. Buffalo also has Michael Kesselring and Luke Schenn, but both have struggled.
Metsa scored two goals and four assists for six points and was plus-20 in those 38 games.
Buffalo practiced for around 20 minutes on Thursday with Noah Ostlund missing because he was being examined for an upper-body injury.
Alex Lyon had his own net which means he'll start on Friday against his former team the Detroit Red Wings.
The Amerks captain had earned a spot in 38 games, but goes down anyway
