Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) – Buffalo Sabres rookie Devon Levi has become the first goalie to win back-to-back Mike Richter Awards as college hockey’s best goaltender.

Levi just completed his second year at Northeastern University, putting up great numbers once again. Levi went 17-12-5 this past season with a 2.24 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.

The 21-year-old put up even better numbers last year when he won the award for the first time. Levi was 21-10-1 during his 2021-22 campaign with a 1.54 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage.

Levi was also named the Hockey East Player of the Year for the past two seasons.

The native of Dollard-Des Ormeaux, Quebec was a seventh-round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in the 2020 NHL Draft. He was traded to the Sabres in the summer of 2021 as part of the Sam Reinhart deal.

Levi signed with Buffalo on March 17, and has played three games with the Sabres, beating the New York Rangers in overtime, 3-2, and the Detroit Red Wings in a shootout, 7-6. His only lost came to the Panthers, 2-1.
