Buffalo, Ny. (WGR) - The Buffalo Sabres are right back on home ice for their second home game in a row. The Sabres are hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets at KeyBank Center.

Jack Quinn gave the game its first score when he followed up his own shot and scored on a rebound chance right in front of the net.

Conor Timmins made his regular season debut with the Sabres and helped create the goal that made it 1-0 Buffalo nearly seven minutes into the game. Timmins and Owen Power were credited with the assists.

Late in the opening period Kent Johnson was able to use traffic around the crease to tie the game 1-1. Sean Monahan made the pass that helped setup the tying goal. Monahan and Denton Mateychuk assisted on the goal.

Buffalo was able to take advantage of extra space created by four-on-four play, re-taking the lead with less than two minutes remaining in the first period. Josh Norris scored in transition to make it 2-1 in favor of the Sabres.

It was once again Power that helped create the scoring chance, making the pass that helped lead Norris into the offensive zone. The young defenseman was credited with the lone assist.

Buffalo had a carry over power play to start the second period, but failed to convert. However, Rasmus Dahlin used a one-timer from the blue line to extend the team's lead to 3-1 minutes later.

Peyton Krebs made the pass that allowed Dahlin to score his third goal of the season. Krebs and Power were credited with the assists on the goal. The assist was Power's third of the game.

Norris' second goal of the night was scored following strong work at the offensive zone blue line by Tage Thompson.

Zach Benson received the puck from Thompson, and looked up to find Norris in front of the net to extend Buffalo's lead to 4-1. Benson and Thompson assisted on the score.

The Sabres lead ballooned to 5-1 midway through the second period when Josh Doan was in the right spot in the crease and had the puck deflect off of his body and into the net.

Columbus challenged for goaltender interference and were unsuccessful. That resulted in a two-minute penalty and Doan's third goal of the season for Buffalo.
