Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – The Buffalo Sabres will not have Jiri Kulich for this weekend's Prospects Challenge at Harborcenter.

Seth Appert says the 28th overall pick from this past year's draft showed up to camp with a lower-body injury. Appert says Kulich will be re-evaluated before training camp.

The Sabres did get some good news, though, as Filip Cederqvist participated in Thursday’s morning skate and will play Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens.

Buffalo has two invitees as their goalies, and Appert said both Tomas Suchanek and Beck Warm will play against the Habs.

The 19-year-old Suchanek came over from Czechia and played last season in the Western Hockey League for the Tri-City Americans. He went 12-24-4 with a 3.87 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage.

The 23-year-old Warm played four years with the Americans before spending time in the pro ranks with the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves and ECHL Norfolk Admirals. In 18 games last season with Norfolk, he was 7-10-1 with a 3.00 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.

Montreal will have the first overall pick of July’s draft, Juraj Slafkovsky, in the lineup on Thursday. The Canadiens will also have their 26th overall selection, Filip Mesar, available to play.

Kaiden Guhle was Montreal’s first-round pick in 2020 and will be on defense. He is the younger brother of former Sabres defenseman Brendan Guhle, who has left the Anaheim Ducks organization and is now playing in Europe.
