Luukkonen, Malenstyn elect salary arbitration

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen may come to terms with the Sabres before he gets to his hearing

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) – Two Buffalo Sabres players have elected to go to salary arbitration this offseason. Goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and newly acquired winger Beck Malenstyn have both elected to take hearings with a neutral arbiter.

Just because both players have chosen arbitration, it doesn’t mean a new contract won’t be signed before the hearings happen.

The arbitration hearings begin on Saturday, July 20 and go through Sunday, Aug. 4. A schedule for each hearing has yet to be announced.
