NHL, NHLPA agree to some temporary changes to help get season back going

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – The National Hockey League and the NHL Players' Association have agreed to temporarily change the collective bargaining agreement to include taxi squads until the 2022 All-Star break in February.

According to this release, despite having five players and head coach Don Granato in the NHL's COVID-19 Protocol, the home game Wednesday against the New Jersey Devils and the road game Thursday against the New York Islanders are still on.

Buffalo is slated to practice on Monday morning.

In other Sabres news, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, Owen Power, scored a hat trick at the World Junior Championship for Canada. Power, who is a defenseman, scored an even strength goal, followed by two 5-on-3 power play goals to lead Canada past the Czech Republic, 6-3.

Power is the first defenseman to ever score a hat trick for Canada at the World Junior Championship. Canada is next in action on Tuesday against Austria.
