(WGR 550) – Owen Power grew up close to Buffalo, New York in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, so he’s very familiar with the Sabres.
Power is projected to be drafted first overall by the Sabres on July 23. He told TSN on Friday that Buffalo would be nice and close to home. He also knows what this team has been in the past.
“I know they’ve got a rich history,” the Michigan defenseman said. “It would be an honor to play for them and to be drafted by them.”
Power talked to TSN after speaking with general manager Kevyn Adams and the Sabres on Thursday. He said that he’d love to be part of the Sabres organization.
Even after speaking with the Sabres, Power still is considering going back to Ann Arbor and playing with the Wolverines for one more season. Depending on when his college season ends, he could still sign and play for his NHL team in March or April.
