Sabres announce two hires to hockey department

Zach Redmond has been hired as a player development coach, while Brad Dexter joins the team as a scout

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres announced two new additions to their hockey operations department on Wednesday, hiring Zach Redmond as a player development coach and Brad Dexter as a scout.

Redmond, 35, recently retired from professional hockey after playing the past three seasons in Germany with EHC München of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). During his first season in Germany, Redmond happened to play with current Sabres winger JJ Peterka.

In his time in the National Hockey League, Redmond played 133 games, including three games with the Sabres during the 2017-18 season. In his time with the Sabres, Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche, Redmond scored nine goals and added 29 assists for 38 points.

In parts of three seasons in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans, Redmond managed to notch 127 points (41+86) in 183 games as more of an offensive specialist from the blue line.

As for Dexter, he joins the Sabres after spending the last 17 years as an assistant coach in college hockey. After serving as an assistant coach at Colgate University for nine years, Dexter spent the last eight years at Princeton University. Three of those seasons at Princeton, Dexter also served as an associate head coach.
