Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - With their second pick in the seventh round, and final pick of the 2022 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sarbes select center Linus Sjödin with the 211th overall pick. Sjödin was selected out of the Swedish Hockey League from Rögle BK.

Sjödin played a large majority of this past season with Rögle, but also played eight games in J20 Nationell, where he recorded seven points (5+2). While in the SHL, Sjödin played 49 games, scoring five goals and tallying six assists for 11 points. In the playoffs, he appeared in 13 games and had one assist.
The 6-foot, 168-pound 19-year-old has been described as a smart skater and playmaker who can think on the fly to create the best chances for his team. Sjödin is the fifth center that the Sabres selected in the 2022 NHL Draft. He adds to the list with Matthew Savoie, Noah Östlund, Jiri Kulich, and Gustav Karlsson.
Sjödin is expected to return to Rögle BK next season in the SHL. Along with that, it's expected he will compete for a roster spot on Team Sweden at the IIHF World Junior Championship, which starts on Aug. 9 in Edmonton, Alberta.
The Sabres acquired the 211th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft in a trade with the Dallas Stars that also saw Buffalo acquire goalie Ben Bishop for future considerations.
