Raleigh, N.C. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Brandon Bussi left the Buffalo Sabres shaking their heads on Monday, as he made several key saves to backstop the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-1 win at the Lenovo Center.
The Sabres jumped out to an early 1-0 as Rasmus Dahlin scored just 1:33 into the game on a rush with a beautifully placed wrist shot.
It wouldn't be long before the Hurricanes tied the game with Sebastian Aho finding Andrei Svechnikov at the doorstep to redirect the puck past Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.
Buffalo would get their first chance with the man advantage as Svechnikov got sent to the box for roughing with a high hit on Dahlin. Tage Thompson would have a glorious chance on a 2-on-0 but would get robbed on a huge glove save by Carolina goalie Brandon Bussi.
Early in the third period, Owen Power got sent to the box for tripping and the Hurricanes power play made quick work with Seth Jarvis scoring on his own rebound just :07 seconds in to the man advantage.
That would be it for the scoring as Bussi continued to frustrate the Sabres, making multiple big saves throughout the third period, including a flurry in the final minute of play with Buffalo's net empty and the extra attacker to secure the 2-1 victory.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen played well in defeat, stopping 26 shots in the loss.
The Sabres struggles in Raleigh continued, with the loss being their 13th straight in the Lenovo Center dating back to 2016.
