Sabres holding 'RJ's Best Calls' bracket

Fans can vote on the best play-by-play call from Rick Jeanneret over his Hall of Fame broadcasting career in Buffalo

With it being the final season in the broadcast booth for iconic Buffalo Sabres play-by-play man Rick Jeanneret, the team is conducting a fan-voting bracket tournament looking back on the best calls of his career.

Some of Jeanneret's most memorable calls will face one another in this tournament, as 16 of the best will be voted on as being the No. 1 call of all-time.

In Round 1 of voting, the Sabres have fans voting for either Brad May's "May Day" in the 1993 Prince of Wales Division Semifinal series against the Boston Bruins or the "Connolly Corkscrew" that featured a goal scored by Tim Connolly against the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2005-06 season. Also in the first round, Jeanneret's famous "LaLaLaLaLafontaine" call will be matched up against the Maxim Afinogenov "Roll the Highlight Film" call in a regular season game against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the early 2000s.

The bracket will be going all the way through March and ending on April 1 when the Sabres lift a banner for Jeanneret as part of "RJ Night" at KeyBank Center.

Fans that vote in each round will also be entered into a raffle to win prizes, including a broadcast booth experience, an autographed Rick Jeanneret jersey, and tickets to “RJ’s Last Call” on April 29 against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Voting is already underway now at Sabres.com/BestCall.
