With the 216th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres select forward Jakub Konecny from HC Sparta Praha's U20 junior program in the Czech Republic.
The young 18-year-old spent last season playing at the junior ranks in the Czech Republic, scoring 11 goals and registering 14 assists for 25 points in 32 games. Konecny is playing with Sparta Praha's junior program again this season, so far putting up four goals and nine assists for 13 points in nine games.
Not too much is known about Konecny, other than he is listed as a forward and stands at 5-foot-10 and 157 pounds. He is a native of Brno, Czech Republic and is a left shot up front.
His father, Michal, played professionally in the Czech Republic for several years, racking up 372 points in 501 games in the top-tier and second-tier professional leagues.
