Berndtsson played the entirety of the 2021-22 season in the junior league in Frölunda's club, where he scored 22 goals and added 27 assists for 49 points in 47 games. The 6-foot, 179-pound winger also added two goals in three playoff games for his team.

Sabres fans will recognize Frölunda HC as the program that developed 2018 first overall pick Rasmus Dahlin, and also helped winger Victor Olofsson grow his game after being drafted in the seventh round of the 2014 NHL Draft.

The Sabres will also select 211th overall in the seventh round, which is their last pick of the draft.
