Sabres sign defenseman Colton Poolman to one-year deal

Poolman has yet to make an appearance in the NHL through four seasons of professional hockey

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Sabres add another depth organizational piece to the blue line on Tuesday with the signing of defenseman Colton Poolman to a one-year deal worth $775,000.

Poolman is entering his fifth professional season of hockey this year, having yet to make an appearance in an NHL game.

After playing four seasons at the University of North Dakota, serving as captain in his Senior year during the 2019-20 campaign, Poolman would sign his one-year entry-level contract with the Calgary Flames.

In his four seasons playing in the Flames organization with the Stockton Heat and Calgary Wranglers of the American Hockey League, Poolman scored six goals and added 33 assists for 39 points in 213 games played.

Poolman's older brother, Tucker, is also playing in the NHL, currently under contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
