Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR) - The Buffalo Sabres announced on Monday the signing of forward Noah Ostlund to an eight-year contract extension with an average annual value of $6.6 million. The contract will tie Ostlund to Buffalo through the 2034-35 season.

Ostlund still had one year left on his rookie contract, which means his new deal will officially kick in next season.
The deal also reportedly includes a seven-team modified no trade clause in the final four years of his contract.
The 22-year-old was selected by the Sabres in the first round (16th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft. That pick was acquired by the Sabres as part of the Jack Eichel trade with the Vegas Golden Knights.
In 60 games with the Sabres last season as a rookie, Ostlund scored 11 goals and added 16 assists for 27 points. In three playoff games for the Sabres last year, Ostlund was able to score a goal and register an assist before injury ended his postseason run.
Ostlund also got eight games with the Sabres as a 20-year-old during the 2024-25 season, where he went pointless.
Over the last three years in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans, Ostlund has produced 22 goals and 25 assists for 47 points in 54 games. In 11 playoff games, Ostlund scored a goal and added a pair of assists for the Amerks.
Under the new NHL and NHLPA collective bargaining agreement that kicks in on Tuesday, Monday was the last day for teams to be able to sign players eligible for a contract extension to an eight-year extension. As of Tuesday, the maximum a team can sign any player to a contract is seven years.
The Sabres open training camp this week, and play their first preseason game on Monday, Sept. 21 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Buffalo kicks off the the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 1 in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.
