Sabres sign J-J Peterka to entry-level contract

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – The Buffalo Sabres moved up from 38th overall to the 34th pick in the 2020 NHL Draft to select forward J-J Peterka. To make the trade, Buffalo sent the San Jose Sharks the 38th pick plus a 2020 fourth round pick.

The Sabres announced on Friday the 19-year-old has signed his three-year entry-level contract.

The winger scored nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points in 30 games this past season with EHC Red Bull München. Before playing in Germany this year, Peterka started his season in Austria for EC Salzburg, where he had seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in just 12 games.

Peterka just finished playing for Germany at the World Championship, where he scored one goal in six games played.

He was also in the World Junior Championship two different times for Germany, where he netted eight goals and eight assists for 16 points in 12 games.
