Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams is making an addition to his scouting staff with the hire of Tristan Musser to scout amateur and professional prospects in the United States.
While the team has not announced the hiring, the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League announced that Musser is leaving the organization to join the Sabres. Musser was serving as the team's assistant general manager since the 2018-19 season.
After playing four years of college hockey at Adrian College, Musser decided to earn his master's degree in Sport Administration from Canisius College. While there, he served as Director of Hockey Operations for the Golden Griffins until he graduated in 2016.
After that, Musser spent two seasons as a scout in the USHL, while also working as a video coach in the Buffalo Jr. Sabres program. The native of Lansing, Michigan also spent those two years working with the Academy of Hockey as a development coach.
Musser worked under Matt Ellis at the Academy of Hockey, who was the Head Development Coach at the time. Ellis is now with the Sabres as the Director of Player Development.
