The 2021 season for the Kansas City Chiefs has not gotten off to the start many had anticipated.
Currently sitting at 2-2 following last Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs return home to Arrowhead Stadium for a Sunday night showdown with the Buffalo Bills in a rematch of the AFC Championship Game last season.
The Chiefs enter the matchup flying offensively, ranking second in the NFL through four games with an average of 427.5 yards per-game and 33.5 points per-game. Patrick Mahomes and the offensive unit will face a tough challenge, though, as the Bills defense enters the contest ranked as the No. 1 unit in the league and coming off two shutout wins in three games.
Meanwhile, the Bills offense is ranked right up with the Chiefs in scoring at 33.5 points per-game, and is currently ranked seventh in the NFL averaging 404 yards per-game. Josh Allen and Buffalo's offense will face a Chiefs defense that has been reeling through four games, ranking second-to-last in the league with an average of 437.8 yards-against per-game.
While most of Kansas City is having a bit of a panic attack about the defensive performance through the first quarter of the 2021 season, former Chiefs linebacker Shawn Barber isn't worried.
The 10-year veteran joined "The Drive" with Carrington Harrison on Thursday afternoon to explain why he's not ready to freak out just yet.
"Right now is just a learning phase," Barber said on 610 Sports Radio. "The bell curve is what it is. There are going to be some bumps and bruises along the way as they learn to communicate and this secondary's not the same secondary... it takes some time to be on the same page, make sure we're seeing the same thing. And that comes with the territory."
