It did not take long for many brackets to be busted on the first day of the NCAA Tournament.

The first big upset of March Madness came courtesy of the Richmond Spiders, a 12-seed that ousted No. 5 seed Iowa in a 67-63 victory.

While 12-5 upsets are quite common in the tournament, many were high on Iowa coming off their Big 10 championship run and picked them as a sleeper to make a Final Four run.

Needless to say, many on social media were none too thrilled that the Spiders busted their brackets.

Yet, the win did not come without some controversy.

With about a minute left, Iowa’s Kris Murray attempted a 3-pointer from the corner but was “blocked” but Richmond’s Matt Grace.

But it did not actually appear to be a block. Grace could be seen clearly making contact with Murray’s arm on the shot — but no foul was called.

The Hawkeyes trailed by three points at the time, and Richmond then scored two on the other end to go up five points when Iowa easily could have tied the game from the free-throw line.

Needless to say, many were seething about the no-call at the end of the game.

Who knows how the game would have turned out had the foul been called, but Iowa certainly would have been in better position to win.

Regardless, Richmond is the one advancing to a second-round matchup with No. 4 Providence.
