The 49-year-old ignited a brawl following a 77-63 loss to the Badgers, throwing and landing an open-handed punch at Wisconsin assistant Joe Krabbenhoft.

The melee ensued after Howard angrily confronted Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard in the handshake line.

It appeared that Howard was upset that Gard called a timeout with 15 seconds remaining in the game because his backup players were struggling with a full-court press that Howard had Michigan playing.

Wisconsin was already up 15 points and the game was essentially over, so Howard took exception to the timeout.

Many on social media were shocked to see a head coach take a swing at another coach and expect a suspension for Howard, with some even pondering if he may not coach again this season or at all for Michigan, his alma mater.

Howard was unapologetic after the game.
