Yesterday, golf betting expert James Mazzola joined Ken Barkley and Nick Kostos on You Better or You Bet.

The fellas discussed the Masters from a betting perspective. Here are some of Mazzola’s most notable comments from last night’s show:

Where Golfers Can Score on this Course?

Don’t focus on the par-5s. Everyone is going to score on them. It will come down to the guys who can avoid mistakes on the par-4s. Focus on the par-3s and par-4s, scoring there is where you are going to be able to get the edge on the field.

On Dustin Johnson:

Dustin’s in a lot different situation this week compared to last year … Coming into November of last year, his form was second to none.

We’re in a different stage with him now, his game is not firing on all cylinders. I have some questions about DJ, I won’t be touching him at the top. DJ’s game is not the same as it was last year.

Value Bets:

There are two guys that are criminally mispriced in this field. I’m looking at a Patrick Reed number, anywhere from 30 to 40-1 odds to win a golf tournament he’s won before. When we look at Reed, he’s criminally disrespected every single week, but anytime we see a 30-1 or higher, it’s just an auto bet … If this course is going to play hard, Reed is one of the most clutch scramblers there is. He’s playing excellent golf with a W within the last three months.

Similar things have to be said about Collin Morikawa. This is a guy that is fourth in the world right now coming off of a win … One of, if not the best, iron players in the world. If it’s going to be fast and firm, he benefits the most from extra rollout.

Brooks Koepka is interesting at 33-1. If he’s anywhere near healthy, he’d be 12-1 here. Another guy that I like is a guy from the area, Daniel Berger. He’s a Florida guy, has shown success at Augusta, has shown success this year, and you’re looking at him from 35 to 45-1.

First Round Leader thoughts:

I like my guys in the 40 to 70-1 range usually for this bet. These guys, they come out guns blazing. Whereas veterans know you don’t win the golf tournament on Thursday.

Two guys in particular pop-out. Number 1 is Matthew Fitzpatrick. He’s had first round leads this year. The other guy is Paul Casey.

Top-20 bet:

A guy that I like for a t20 bet is Max Homa. Excellent ball striker and off-the-tee.
