Stephen Jones: Aldon Smith Has Been "Impressive" In Early Days of Camp

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Despite not playing a snap in the NFL for five years, newly acquired pass rusher Aldon Smith has been turning heads at Cowboys training camp to this point.

By all accounts, he has been one of, if not the biggest surprises of the new-look defense, drawing praise from teammates, front office personnel, and media alike.

The most recent praise for smith came from Cowboys COO Stephen Jones, who joined GBag nation on Thursday to discuss the Cowboys progress through the first week.

"As you said, that's a big leap of faith when a guy has sat out from competing at the level of the NFL for five years, but boy, he has been so impressive and you can tell he's put so much work into both his off the field challenges, as well as getting himself ready to compete at a high level," Stephen Jones told GBag Nation on Thursday. "You get to find that out real quick when the partner that you're competing against every day is Tyron Smith and he's certainly making Tyron better and he's certainly holding his own and more in terms of his practice and what he's doings.

Smith, of course was brought to Dallas in order to help improve a pass rush, that struggled in 2019. Now, alongside DeMarcus Lawrence, Everson Griffen, Dontari Poe, and a host of other young talent, Smith looks to be set for a major comeback in 2020.
