Tiger Woods said on Tuesday morning that he intends to play in The Masters, marking his return to competitive golf after he was seriously injured in a February 2021 car crash.
Woods added that he intends to play "nine more holes" on Wednesday before making his final decision, but on Tuesday he said, "As of right now, I feel like I am going to play."
The 46-year-old, 15-time major winner made the announcement from the site of the annual Masters tournament, Augusta National Golf Club, where he arrived on Sunday and has been working out and playing practice rounds.
The golf legend's career appeared to be in serious jeopardy as recently as last year, following the scary crash in Rancho Palos Verde, California, the site of the Genesis Invitational. Woods required surgery to repair leg fractures.
Tiger returned to the course late last year, playing in a parent-child pro-am with his son, Charlie, though he rode in a golf cart.
Tuesday's news was met with great enthusiasm on social media, where users were eagerly clamoring for Tiger's return to the links in a major or otherwise notable tournament.
