(670 The Score) - The inaugural “Field of Dreams” game couldn’t have been any more dramatic.

After the New York Yankees stunned the White Sox by rallying for four runs off All-Star closer Liam Hendriks with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to take a one-run lead, Chicago shortstop Tim Anderson responded with a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom half of the inning to give his team a thrilling 9-8 victory in the made-for-television event in Dyersville, Iowa on Thursday night.

Anderson did his damage off Yankees reliever Zack Britton, who walked White Sox catcher Seby Zavala with one out before Anderson went the opposite way to right field for the win. Anderson was one of four White Sox players to hit a home run in the win, as did Zavala, left fielder Eloy Jimenez and first baseman Jose Abreu.

“The game is never over until it’s over,” Anderson said on a postgame interview on FOX. “I knew what I was looking for, and I didn’t miss.”

As for the Yankees, they, too, hit four home runs into the corn on Thursday night.

Aaron Judge managed to hit two home runs out of the ballpark, first in the third off Lance Lynn and then again in the ninth inning off Hendriks to pill the score to within one. Brett Gardner left the yard in the sixth inning off Lynn, while Giancarlo Stanton was the one who gave the Yankees the lead in the ninth with a two-run home run off Hendriks.

Thursday night's game in Iowa happened to be the first Major League Baseball game to take place in the state. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred says it won't be the last time a game will be played in the state, as he promised for a return in the 2022 season.

The teams and date for the game has yet to be determined.
