(HOUSTON) SportsRadio 610 -- Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez was scratched from Sunday’s lineup with knee soreness just two days after making his 2020 debut.

Alvarez, 23, dealt with knee soreness even last season, when he was the unanimous American League Rookie of the Year.

Astros manager Dusty Baker talked about Alvarez’s knees “barking” at spring training. Alvarez was unable to train with the team at summer camp last month because he tested positive for COVID-19.

Alvarez made his way back into the Astros’ lineup Friday against the Seattle Mariners, and homered opposite field to the Crawfish Boxes in his first at-bat.

That was his only hit of the night, but another run scored later in the game when Alvarez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. He was 1-for-4 in Saturday night’s win with a single in the second inning.
