Genetically modified mosquitoes are on the way to the Florida Keys now thru 2022. Yep.... Oxitec has received state and federal approval to release them.
The non-biting males will mate with the wild-type females. Their offspring will not live to maturity. This will be the first time "friendly" mosquitoes are released in our country. The thought is it's better than spraying.
