LISTEN NOW: Lainey Wilson joins Rob + Holly for the ‘Friday Night Takeover’
During her time on the Friday Night Takeover with Audacy’s Rob + Holly, the “Watermelon Moonshine” singer and Yellowstone actress, spilled what she knows about the show’s future after she had a conversation with creator, Taylor Sheridan.
“I talked to Taylor Sheridan the other day and there’s a plan,” she shared. “Now we just gotta see if that plan happens. I laugh and say, ‘they didn’t take me to the train station,’ so, we’ll see what happens on that end. I told him, I said, ‘Give me the green light,' we gon’ be smack dab in the middle of touring, but we’ll figure it out.”
While plans surrounding Yellowstone remain unknown, Wilson has plenty of other projects in full swing, including her forthcoming duet with Dolly Parton on the recently announced, A Tribute to The Judds album, arriving October 27.
The duet is a dream come true for Wilson, who said she didn’t get to record her vocals alongside Parton in the studio, but still got her moment with Dolly at the 58th Annual ACM Awards in May.
“I had went in and cut my vocal on the song we did together for The Judds tribute and she went in a couple weeks later and did hers, so I didn’t get to meet her during that process,” Wilson explained. “I got to hear our voices together, which was insane, but I had not got to hug her neck just yet. As we were walking off the stage [at the ACM Awards] she said, ‘Lainey, I love our new song together,’ and I’m like, [speechless]. I don’t know if I even said anything, to be honest.”
“I felt like I had known her my whole life,” Wilson said of meeting Parton after she awarded her the trophy for Female Artist of the Year. “Even in just those 15 seconds of getting to talk to her when we were walking off the stage.”
