First on the program, Marilyn welcomes Melody Keim, Executive Director of Coalition Against Hunger. A year into the Covid-19 pandemic and (sadly) this has increased the need for food and necessities in our communities. Food insecurity, especially for families with children, is rising and the Coalition is doing everything they can to help. You can too! Melody shares details on their Spring Race Again Hunger (25th annual) Friday 4/16 through Monday 4/26. It will be virtual again this year so it's easy to walk, run, or stroll along leisurely, knowing every dollar raised is helping a family in need.
The second guest for today is the Executive Director of the Betsy Ross House, Lisa Moulder. Celebrating Women in History all month for Women's History month, Marilyn speaks with the Executive Director of Betsy Ross House, which is open on weekends and evenings. This isn't Betsy's first pandemic and if anyone can teach us lessons on getting through some trying times it's Betsy! Lisa Moulder has created a clean, safe space and a myriad of events in spite of the year's challenges that include "Tipsy History," "Art in the Age," and she announces on the show that the "Annual Flag Festival" will be returning this year, and comes with sweet treats! You should tune in and get the details. We are so lucky to have all these historic landmarks in Philadelphia where great family fun merges with history lessons!
