‘Feeling around NBA’ is Simmons will be traded within the week, Nuggets considered a ‘sleeper'

Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons saga could soon be coming to an end, at least according to one prominent NBA insider. Per Sam Amico of HoopsWire.com, the “feeling” around the league is the disgruntled guard will be traded “within the next week.” Amico noted that “some suspect” the Nuggets could be lurking as a potential “sleeper” in Simmons talks while the Timberwolves remain plenty interested in the 25-year-old Australian, even following the dismissal of top exec Gersson Rosas. The Sixers have also fielded varying degrees of interest from Cleveland, Golden State, Indiana, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio and Toronto. Amico contends that any trade involving Simmons would almost certainly require a third team.

Uninterested in repairing his fractured relationship with coach Doc Rivers, Simmons has made clear he will not be in attendance for the start of Sixers training camp in Camden next week. Meanwhile, Philadelphia’s leverage is disappearing by the day with Simmons doubling down in a tense meeting with Sixers management last month, claiming to be “done” with the team that chose him with the first pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Responding to rumors of a reported falling out with Simmons, Joel Embiid defended his teammate on Twitter earlier this month, though his insinuation the three-time All-Star may not be “built” to handle criticism from fans and media may actually have done more harm than good.
