We're All In:  Mask Mandate begins Monday across Dane County, What You Need to Know

Health officials today require almost everyone across Dane County to wear a mask. You'll need to have a mask or face covering if you are over the age of 5, and inside any buildings with people who are not members of your household.

There are a few exceptions, and you can find the entire emergency order, here.

Overall, people who have a physical, mental, or developmental condition preventing them from wearing a mask are exempt. Officials tell us, assume people are wearing masks to protect themselves and those around them, and people who aren’t have a reason why they aren't able to wear a mask. And while masks will be the most common, the order also allows for other ways to stay in compliance without one, such as by using a bandana or a scarf.

There could also be fines if you are caught violating the mandate. Officials say the first focus will be on education about wearing masks. But if you own or run a business or are an individual who is caught breaking the order multiple times, you may face a fine of up to $260 in Dane County, and more than $370 in Madison.

Remember, we're all in, and want to be here to help you, too. -Jim and Teri
