
There have been 453 NFL Draft selections, 91 in the first round. The alumni of the game is certainly a who’s who of the sport of football.
The All-American Bowl, which was originally the Army All-American high school football all-star game, is held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on the first Saturday of the new year.
This Saturday afternoon (1 p.m.), the 20th annual event will take place, and like they have over the past two decades, there will be some impressive athletes, representing the entire country.
Notable alumni have included Andrew Luck, Adrian Peterson, Odell Beckham Jr., Eric Berry, Tim Tebow, Joe Thomas, Tyron Smith, Robert Quinn, C.J. Mosley, DeMarco Murray, Ted Ginn, DeSean Jackson, Chris Leak, and Joe Mixon to name a few.
LOCAL TALENT READY TO COMPETE
Each and every year, south Florida is well represented, and this year will be no exception.
Among this year’s area standouts Include University of Miami running back signee Donald Chaney Jr. (Miami Belen Jesuit), Miami Gulliver Prep defensive end Donell Harris (Texas A&M), University of Florida signee Xzavier Henderson (Miami Christopher Columbus) and St. Thomas Aquinas outside linebacker Derek Wingo (Florida signee) were all selected to this impressive game as well.
