Parade Honors All Five 2019 Miami-Dade County State Football Champions

State Championship Teams Are Honored

When all is said and done – nobody does it like the #305.

On Saturday morning, while Super Bowl activities were taking center stage throughout south Florida, it was time for a little “me” time for Miami-Dade County football teams.

Whether you were public or private – Greater Miami Athletic Conference member or not, you were certainly part of the “family” as Hialeah Champagnat Catholic (2A), Miami Booker T. Washington (4A), Miami Northwestern (5A), Miami Central (6A) and Miami Christopher Columbus (8A) were honored with a parade that started on the campus of Miami-Dade College and ended with fans, dignitaries, students and bands playing inside the newly refurbished Traz Powell Stadium.

As Miami-Dade County School Superintendent Alberto Carvahlo greeted all who came and Donovan Campbell (Channel 7) served as MC for the event, the programs that brought home five of the seven state titles to south Florida were recognized by many who had followed the amazing 2019 journey of these champions.

As Nike continued its journey of helping to promote and sponsor south Florida athletics, with the stadium renovations and much more, everyone had the chance to say thank you to those who continue to elevate football in the most prospect rich environment in the country – hands down.

As head coaches Hector Clavijo (Champagnat Catholic), Earl Tillman (Booker T. Washington), Max Edwards (Northwestern), Roland Smith (Central) and Dave Dunn (Columbus) led their teams down the parade route and into the stadium, it was certainly a proud moment.

“This is an awesome day for Miami-Dade County,” said Smith. “To have all these prestigious people on hand to honor the great football we play at our public and private schools is what the #305 is all about. What a beautiful thing this is.”

RINGS FOR BTW, CENTRAL, NORTHWESTERN

On Super Bowl Sunday, the giving continued as Nike, Redksins’ Quinton Dunbar (Booker T. Washington), Saints’ Teddy Bridgewater (Northwestern) and Vikings’ Dalvin Cook (Central) combined tobuy rings for this amazing championship season.

Along with a Super Bowl watch party, it brought to an end four days of celebration at Traz Powell Stadium.
