Battle Sports Kicks Off Competitive 7-on-7 Tournament

Battle 7-on-7 This Weekend

Perhaps the third most exciting weekend in high school football will take place this weekend.

With opening day of any season and the playoffs being the most exciting time for any football player, the first tournament of the 7-on-7 season is right up there.

Yes, an off season ritual that has taken off across the country will truly take center stage right here in south Florida when teams from across the nation will flock to Doral Meadows Park (11555 NW 58th St, Doral, FL 33178) in Doral for an impressive tournament.

The event, which will get started with 15 and under teams at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning and continue on Sunday will attract teams such as Burch Sports, Bootleggers, Metro Virgina, Coastline, Juice, Mach 1, Certified Dawgs, Ground Zero, True Buzz, Team Flexx, Tucson Turf, SMSB, Defcon Texas, True Buzz South abd Playmakers – from Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, northern Florida and other destinations across the country.

The varsity teams will begin at 12 noon – with local programs such as the South Florida Express, Hard Knocks, Immortals and Defcon grabbing the spotlight with some of elite programs around.

Among some of the locals expected to take part this weekend include quarterbacks Carson Haggard (Gulliver Prep), Zion Turner (St. Thomas Aquinas, Nick Vattiato (University School) and Dylan Rizk (Delray Heritage) – as well as running back Malik Rutherford (Champagnat Catholic).

There are also receivers Jaylen Rodgers (Northwestern), Jalen Brown, (Gulliver Prep), Yulkeith Brown (Central), Mike Jackson (Palmetto), T.J. Huggins (Killian), Romello Brinson (Northwestern), Breshard Smith (Palmetto), Bralon Brown (Chaminade-Madonna), Troy Stellato (Cardinal Gibbons), Jake Harrington (St. Thomas Aquinas), Jacolby George (Plantation), Brandon Inniss (University School), Makai Lovett (Miami High) – as well as tight ends Dallas Turner (St. Thomas Aquinas), Chamon Metayer (North Miami) and Khalil Brantley (Northwestern).

Defensive backs James Williams (American Heritage), Antwan Massie (Northwestern), Kamren Kinchens (Northwestern), Timothy Burns Jr., (Northwestern), Jayvon Only (Gulliver Prep), Travious Lathan (Gulliver Prep), Rance Connor (Booker T. Washington), Winsome Frazier (Northwestern), Jaden McBurrows (St. Thomas Aquinas), Tyson Russell (St. Thomas Aquinas), Jason Marshall (Palmetto) and Corey Collier (Palmetto) to name a few.

There will also be linebackers such as Terrance Lewis (Northwestern) and Emile Aime (University School).to name a few.

While the 15 and under will start at 9 a.m., the varsity teams will kick the tournament off on Saturday, beginning at 12 noon.
