We are in a football generation where being average will never get you to the destination you wanted to be at.
Every position on the field has players who continue to raise the bar – for one reason or another, and that is what makes football so very special in south Florida.
There is no getting around the fact that speed dictates a lot on the football field – and whether it’s linebacker, defensive line, secondary, receiver, running back or quarterback, being fast and versatile sometimes makes the difference in what scholarship you receive.
The quarterback position is certainly a spot where we have watched the most dramatic impact – at the professional level as well as in college. It has now spread to high school.
HURST PROFILE
PLAYER: Collin Hurst
POSITION: QB
SCHOOL: Davie Western
CLASS: 2023
HEIGHT: 5-9
WEIGHT: 160
SCOUTING: Having watched this young man play for a few season – at the youth level and this year as a varsity starter for head coach Adam Ratkevich and his Wildcats, there is no getting around that this is certainly one of the stars of the future.
While his passing game is still a work in progress, the thing that gives Collin a huge advantage is his ability to run the ball – and move around in the pocket.
This is NOT your ordinary freshman. He is a very smart young man with plenty of athleticism. He also has a tremendous support system, which includes his father, Corey, a one time standout at Cooper City High.
While south Florida is home to a number of elite athletes at different positions, quarterback is a spot where we are always looking for the next impact performer – and Hurst certainly checks all the boxes.
