The ACC came out with their plan for the upcoming season, which includes 10 conference games and one non-conference game.
Notre Dame will become a football member of the ACC, for this season only, which means they will now play 10 ACC games instead of their usual six; making them eligible for the conference championship game. Now the debate will begin as to whether or not the conference should have allowed Notre Dame in for just one season without a commitment to join the conference full-time down the road.
University of Miami Athletic Director Blake James sure believes that The Irish would be a good fit for the conference as a permanent member for football.
“I think they would be a great fit for the ACC in football," James said. "I think it would elevate who we are as a conference. I would love to see them become a full-time partner, but just happy we are able to have them in the league this year and we will see where it goes from there.”
The ACC is set to kick off games on September 7.
