Lombardi: 'Jets, Coaching Malpractice at the Highest Level'

The New York Jets have been the laughing stock of the NFL for the past few seasons but things may have hit rock bottom on Sunday.  Jets Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams called an all-out blitz on the final play of the game which led to an easy touchdown pass and a win for the Raiders.  Unfortunately when things like this happen, things like tanking and trying to lose to get Trevor Lawrence are brought up.  While the Jets did fire Williams yesterday, the reaction on the defensive play call is still coming in.  Former front office executive Michael Lombardi joined The Joe Rose Show on Tuesday morning and offered up his thoughts on the Jets dysfunction and also told us why Dolphin fans should be thankful right now.

Lombardi said, "I think it was coaching malpractice at the highest level.  I think it's symbolic of what's wrong with the NFL at the highest level.   Would Shula have allowed his defensive coordinator to make a call he didn't approve of, no way, he was what we call a Head Coach and that term is not involved any longer in the NFL.  You have one in Miami, you have a true head coach and you should feel thankful and blessed that you do."

While it continues to look like the Dolphins have found their long-term coach, the Jets are another story and their off-season should be interesting, to say the least.
