Hall of Famer Jason Taylor stopped by The Joe Rose Show on Wednesday morning to offer his breakdown of the Dolphins win over the Rams this past Sunday. Taylor touched on many different aspects of the game. In typical JT fashion, he began with his thoughts on an exceptional defensive gameplan. Taylor said, ”Josh Boyer and Brian Flores, what they came up with during the bye week, to go after Goff and that Rams offense was pretty amazing and brave and it showed something we didn’t see early in the season, it showed trust, it showed a lot of trust on that back end…they trusted those guys to play zero coverage.”
Jason also had his thoughts on the debut of Tua Tagovailoa and how he did saying, “First of all great team win…are there things that need to be fixed offensively, sure. I think the play calling was a little limited and they kept it close to the vest and didn’t give Tua too much to do especially with what was going on defensively and special teams scoring there was no need to open it up…there’s no reason to put his development and psyche in harm’s way when your defense is playing the way it was.”
So what did Jason find to be a head-scratcher? The Hall of Famer said, “That’s been my big head-scratcher so far this season…not seeing Mike Gesicki get more targets. I don’t understand it I think he’s a big body, talented guy, good route runner, really good hands, and really creates a mismatch on the back end of your defense whether it be against a safety or a linebacker…especially a rookie quarterback your best friend is your running game and your tight end working the middle of the field.”
The Dolphins have a tough road test in Arizona coming up this Sunday. Jason Taylor can be heard on the call along with Joe Rose and Jimmy Cefalo here on WQAM.
