Tom Brady, future NFL talent evaluator?

The seven-time Super Bowl winner was not only looped into the Buccaneers' pre-draft planning, but he actually contributed some scouting analysis, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Arians, appearing earlier this week on The Rich Eisen Show, was asked whether the Bucs had conferred with Brady about their apparent interest in drafting a quarterback. Specifically, Eisen alluded to Aaron Rodgers' rift with the Packers, which reports say is rooted in Rodgers being blindsided by the team moving up to select QB Jordan Love in the first round in 2020.

"Did you have a chat with Tom before the draft about possibly drafting somebody at his position?" Eisen asked.

"Oh yeah, we talked about the whole thing, what we were thinking. He's super interested in that stuff, too, so we had a number of conversations as we got closer and closer. I said, 'Hey, check this guy out, and see if you like him.' We have a great relationship that way."

Pressed to explain "which guy" he advised Brady to look into, Arians said he was referring to "a couple" wide receivers. The Bucs ended drafting Florida QB Kyle Trask in the second round, which registered as a minor surprise to some. In the fourth, they took North Texas wide receiver Jaelon Davis, prompting some, including JoeBucsBlog, to wonder whether Davis had received Brady's stamp of approval.

Brady did "great" as an amateur scout, Arians said, joking that he has a preference for "really good, big fast guys."
