The NBA is still in the preseason phase of its long season, but Celtics star Jaylen Brown's patented intensity is already in midseason form.
Speaking with a TV reporter during halftime of Wednesday's preseason game against the Toronto Raptors, the 2021 All-Star dropped a choice four-letter word while discussing his first-half performance.
"I'm just still trying to get my rhythm," Brown told NBC Sports Boston reporter Abby Chin. "Getting into game shape, getting the reads on time, learning to play with my teammates, and knocking down free throws -- f-ck!"
Brown then slammed down a towel in apparent disgust with his poor free-throw shooting.
Chin seemed to take it in stride.
"Whoa!" she said. "Excuse us!"
Brown made just 2 of 5 attempts from the charity stripe in the game, after sitting around 76% each of the past two seasons.
Still, the seventh-year pro had a nice game overall, scoring a game-high 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor, with zero turnovers. He finished +6 in the overtime loss.
Perhaps Brown is looking to put his best foot forward after his name surfaced in offseason trade rumors involving Kevin Durant. It doesn't seem like talks progressed all that far, but Brown is a prideful competitor, and he may be out to prove that it was a mistake to even even considering moving him.
