After sitting out the 2020 season, Kyle Long will reportedly return to the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Long, 32, is signing a 1-year deal with the defending AFC Champions, worth up to $5 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Long started his NFL career with the Chicago Bears, making the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons with the team who drafted him with the No. 20 overall pick in 2013.
Injuries plagued Long over his last few seasons, limiting him to 30 games since 2016, leading him to step away from the game following the 2019 season in which he landed on injured reserve in Week 5.
The Chiefs have been looking for help along the offensive line after deciding to part ways with stalwart linemen Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz. Fisher suffered an Achilles injury in the AFC Championship Game, and Schwartz has dealt with a back problem that limited him through 2020 and recently underwent a medical procedure to correct the issue.
If Long is able to showcase the ability that led him to three Pro Bowls, he could be a very welcome addition an offensive line that tasked with protecting one Patrick Mahomes.
