Dolphins star reportedly named in police report on shooting at former agent's house

One of the NFL's top cover cornerbacks has been named in a police report regarding a shooting that transpired at his former agent's house last year, according to a new report.

Dolphins All-Pro defensive back Xavien Howard's name appears, misspelled, in a police report about a June 2020 shooting incident at the residence of football agent Damarius Bilbo in Dunwoody, Geogia, Pro Football Talk reported.

A shot fired from a .9 mm handgun tore through several walls in the house late on the night of June 29, while Bilbo's wife and 12-year-old son were home, the report says. A shell casing was recovered from the scene, according to responding officers.

Bilbo's son reported seeing a suspect emerge from a sedan that pulled up outside the house. The suspect took several strides up the lawn toward the house before firing the shots, he said. Nearby security cameras captured a vehicle of interest entering and leaving the development around the time of the shooting.

The name under which the vehicle is registered appears on the report, per PFT, along with that of Howard, whose name is misspelled as "Xavier" Dewayne Howard-Arriola. Dewayne is Howard's middle name, while he drops the "Arriola" part of his official surname.

The heavily redacted incident report does not indicate why Howard is named, the outlet reported, and authorities said a full incident report wouldn't be released until the ongoing investigation was concluded.

Howard has not been publicly named as a person of interest in the unsolved shooting. His lawyer denied any connection to the shooting incident in the PFT story. The Dolphins declined comment.

Howard, 27, earned his first first-team All-Pro nod in 2020. He was previously recognized as a second-team All-Pro in 2018, and has two Pro Bowls to his credit.

His new agency announced he had retained its services earlier this year.

Bilbo played college football at Georgia Tech, and spent several seasons in the NFL as a practice squad player.
