The Pro Football Writers of America have voted Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, not Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt as their Defensive Player of the Year for 2020.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers was named MVP and Titans running back Derrick Henry is the Offensive Player of the Year.

The Pittsburgh native, Donald, had 13.5 sacks 45 total tackles and four forced fumbles.

Watt had 15 sacks, 53 total tackles and two forced fumbles.

The Defensive Player of the Year that is given out by the NFL is voted by Associated Press writers and has been won by Watt’s brother J.J. three times, (tied for most in history with Lawrence Taylor).

Seven Steelers have been awarded DPOY since voting began in 1971 with Troy Polamalu winning most recently in 2010.

New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore won the award last year.

The DPOY will be given during Super Bowl weekend.
