Count the greatest player in franchise history among those that believe the New Orleans Saints are a better team for having signed quarterback Derek Carr.

Appearing on "The Dan Patrick Show" Wednesday, Drew Brees had great things to say about Carr, who joined the Saints on a four-year contract earlier this week.
"I think it's a great fit," Brees said. "I think it's a great fit for him, I think it's a great fit for the Saints.
"I've always been impressed with Derek Carr," he continued. "He's been in a pretty dysfunctional situation, I think we all recognize that. Look at all that has happened to the Raiders both from a personnel perspective and just all the controversy and everything that has swirled around them for the last couple years. That's a very difficult situation to be in. I think he's caught the brunt of that unfairly in a lot of ways."
While Carr's deal was reported as a four-year/$150 million deal that guarantees him $100 million, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk says that when you read the fine print of the contract, it's more like a three-year/$100 million pact.
In New Orleans, Carr will be reunited with head coach Dennis Allen, who held the same position with the Raiders for the first four games of the quarterback's career, before being dismissed. Allen has a defensive background, but Brees believes that Carr will work well with offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael.
"I've always been impressed watching him play. I think he certainly has the ability to take an offense like what the Saints run and execute that well. You know, put a lot on his plate where in many cases you're going up to the line of scrimmage with multiple plays or the ability to check in and out of plays. I've seen him do that.
"Jon Gruden's offense, which is what he came up in, was the same offense that we ran. It's that West Coast style, but the ability to say 'Hey, we're not gonna run a bad play.' That was always the philosophy -- get out of bad plays, get into good plays. You have to be a smart quarterback to do that, you have to recognize what's happening on the other side. I always felt like he did a good job of that. So I think it's a good fit."
