The New York Jets appeared poised to complete an impressive comeback on the road against the Minnesota Vikings, but they could not execute when they needed.

The most crushing moment of the game came inside two minutes remaining, with the Jets trailing 27-22 with fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line. Mike White dropped back and fired a pass to Braxton Berrios over the middle of the end zone, but Berrios was unable to haul in the throw, costing them their best chance at winning the game.

While the Jets did manage to get the ball back, White’s magic ran out, throwing an interception at the 2-yard line as he was marching down field to seal the 27-22 loss.

But it was the Berrios drop that was the ultimate gut-punch. It also came after White was denied on a QB sneak from fourth-and-goal at the 1-yard line earlier in the game, which only made it sting that much more.

Obviously, fans were steaming over the drop — and red zone play-calling in general — on social media.

After the game, White acknowledged his throw should have been better, but it was still in Berrios’ chest and he did not come up with it.

The loss dropped the Jets to 7-4 and third place in the AFC East as they remain fighting to hold onto a playoff spot.
