PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) — Don't let this news spoil the first round of the playoffs, but Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert is generating interest from other teams that are starting over.

And in this case, it's the Detroit Lions.

They're reportedly very interested in bringing Colbert over, this coming from NFL insider Jason La Canfora.

La Canfora also expressed that he has doubts about the feasibility of the Lions prying away Colbert.

In passing, there's merit to another franchise taking a liking to Colbert; he has an impressive resume to boast as far as drafting and roster-building goes.

Recently, Colbert has hit on Day 2 draft selections with second-rounder Chase Claypool and third-rounder Alex Highsmith.

There's also the Day 3, fourth-round Kevin Dotson to consider as he came into his own over the 2020 season.

That's just the 2020 Draft.

Colbert has brought in notable free agency talent, too, as is the case with Eric Ebron and Joe Haden.

There was also the blockbuster trade for the newly announced All-Pro Minkah Fitzpatrick.

For now, take the reports at face value.

As of now, La Canfora isn't expecting a requited interest from Colbert for the Lions' position, but it makes sense that the team is at least kicking the tires.

But Colbert has the track record to warrant that external interest.
