Mark Ingram's power rushing style earned him a Heisman Trophy while at Alabama and has allowed him to rush for over 8,000 yards in 12 NFL seasons.

But the 33-year-old admitted in a recent interview with Kay Adams that Damar Hamlin's injury on Monday Night Football has caused him and his family to re-evaluate how they feel about the sport.
Not only did Ingram acknowledge that he's wondered whether he would want his son to play a sport that can have such serious outcomes, but he admitted that his sister brought up the idea of retirement to him in the wake of the Hamlin tragedy:
For the record, Ingram says he isn't retiring. He also talked about the lifelong bonds that he now has because of the sport.
But as he approaches free agency this offseason, you do wonder if moments like this will cause someone like Ingram to tap out, rather than trying to play an extra season or two. For players who figure to have many post-career employment opportunities like Ingram, the chance to get out before you potentially have a scary situation of your own may become increasingly appealing.
