The injury-plagued rookie season for Jets left tackle Mekhi Becton ended a little early, as he left Sunday’s finale against the Patriots in the third quarter with an ankle injury and did not return.

Becton, the No. 11 overall pick in the Draft, was hurt on Josh Adams’ one-yard touchdown run with 11:43 left in the third, which tied the game at 14-14 at the time. He was replaced by Conor McDermott at left tackle, and the Jets’ next three possessions were two three-and-outs and an interception, as New England took a 28-14 lead that ended up being the final score.

The ankle issue was the third injury to either end a game early or cost Becton a full game this season; a shoulder injury cost him two-plus games earlier in the season, and he also had a chest injury in the first quarter of the Jets’ first game against New England that knocked him out for the remainder of that game.
